My Top 5 Picks to Transition Your Closet From Summer to Fall

Summer is forever and always my favorite season. Suntans, bathing suits, beach trips- I love it all. But by the time stores and Starbucks start telling me to prepare for fall, I am pretty over the 90-degree September days.

If you’re like me and already looking forward to fall fashion and ways to transition your closet from summer to crisp fall, this one is for you! These items are some of my favorites to help transition you through the next few months.

1. A leather jacket

I am totally guilty of being the pickiest shopper when it comes to leather jackets. Seeing them styled and knowing how versatile they are makes we want one come this time every year. The problem? I can never find one at a price I’m willing to pay that looks expensive and fits well! This year, I stumbled across this H&M one and it’s seriously so good. They’re also running a 10% off deal right now in-stores and online with the code “3411”.

2. The perfect denim jacket

Much like a leather jacket, a stylish and cozy, lived-in denim jacket goes with just about anything. Throw it over your shoulders on a cool evening. Style it for a night a the bars. Chuck it around your waist for a concert. The list goes on. Madewell is always my go-to for denim jackets and the investment is well worth it. There are so many options, but I love the shape of this boxy, oversized, distressed one.

3. Leather Ankle Boots

Leather ankle boots can instantly make any jeans and sweater combo or summer sundress with a cardi look fall-ready. I absolutely own way more pairs of ankle boots than I need, but I have learned through trial and error that leather (or faux leather) boots are my preference over suede. I love the look of suede boots but without fail, I seem to ruin at least one pair a year in rain or snow. Leather boots, with a waterproof spray seal, are durable, easy to clean, and so effortlessly chic. Lucky Brand is my go-to for quality boots that aren’t crazy expensive. If you have a TJ Maxx near you, they often carry Lucky styles from the previous year for great prices!

4. A Carry-All Bag

I’ve never been a huge bag person but the idea of carrying one huge, well-organized bag (including everything from my laptop and chargers to on-the-go makeup wipes and snacks) is perfect for me. Bags are another area where there are so many options, it can often get overwhelming. I’ve always loved Madewell’s classic carry-all totes, but I recently purchased this Steve Madden bag and am loving it! It goes with everything, carries all I could ever need and is way less summery than a small crossbody or rattan option.

5. The perfect hat

If you know me, you know I love hats. This is probably the question regarding fashion that I get asked the most- where do you find good fall hats?! My go-to for hats (brace yourself) is actually Target. I seem to always find Free People dupes for less than $15. Lack of Color and Gigi Pip are other hat brands I follow closely but don’t actually own anything from. They’re great for inspo!
